A recognized services organization in New Jersey is currently seeking a new Legal Secretary for a promising opportunity with their growing team.
Responsibilities:
- File legal documents with various courts and agencies, accomplish service of documents and correspondence upon adversaries and various state agencies, and maintain proof of same
- Open, docket, and maintain confidential, case, subject, follow-up, and other legal records and files in electronic and/or paper form
- Purge files upon completion and prepare files for closing and retention
- Act as the Receptionist for department, screening telephone calls, mail, and/or visitors
- Ensure transmittal of messages (either manually or electronically) and ensure correspondence is logged and routed appropriately and given the warranted attention and follow up
- Schedule appointments and coordinate arrangements for meetings and conferences
- Prepare routine letters, presentations, memoranda and reports of a legal and/or confidential nature for supervisor's review by gathering and summarizing data, typing, proofreading, copying and disseminating same.
- Prepare complex legal documents from handwritten notes or dictation equipment, utilizing a personal computer and various types of automation software
- Contribute to the department's goals of providing legal services by assisting paralegals and other clerical staff in the performance of their duties as requested
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of Legal Secretarial experience
- Microsoft Office proficient (Access, Word, Outlook, and Teams)
- Proficient typing and proofreading skills
Desired Skills:
- Associate's and/or Bachelor's Degree
- Notary certification
